Miss Maple, Cordelia, Mopple and the rest of the flock are unusually intelligent sheep. Every night since they were lambs, George, their beloved shepherd, had read aloud fairy tales and detective stories to help them sleep.
Now George lies murdered, his body pinned to the pasture with a spade. Faced with the prospect of a real-life investigation, the flock spring into action the first case for the sensational woolly detectives.
