THE STORY OF THE WORLD OF THE SEEKERS

Originally filmed as a television special in Sydney and Melbourne in January 1968, The World Of The Seekers was produced on 35 mm colour film for simultaneous release on the cinema circuit throughout Australia and New Zealand with up to six screenings a day. Such was the popularity of The Seekers at their zenith. The special's television debut drew a viewing audience rivalled in size only by the group's previous TV spectacular The Seekers Down Under.

Although in the form of a 'documentary', and seemingly based in the UK for many of its scenes, the entire film was in fact a re-enactment of this popular folk group's rise to the top of the international pop charts where they consistently rivalled The Beatles and The Rolling Stones... with melodious evergreens that crossed the generation gap, such as I'll Never Find Another You, A World Of Our Own, Morningtown Ride, The Camival Is Over and Georgy Girl.

With seventeen songs and just a few humorous fictional elements woven in, the story traces The Seekers' history from relative anonymity in 1963 in Australia, to becoming the 1967 Australians Of The Year, and legendary icons worldwide.

Judith Durham, Athol Guy, Keith Potger and Bruce Woodley star as themselves in what was to be their last Australian production. They disbanded six months later.

The rare footage believed lost forever only came to light by chance in 1991. Now, at last, in response to the many thou sands of requests through the years, The Seekers are happy to be able to present this very special film for home viewing as a collectors' item.
