The Sketch Show, which was originally piloted for the BBC, was made for ITV and went on to win the channel's first BAFTA since The New Statesman in 1990. To win an award like this is unprecedented for a show in its first series with a cast of unknowns. The series was described by Time Out as "the funniest thing on ITV for several decades".
