Penny and Peter leant against the trunk of a great fir tree while above them the branches tossed and threshed. Suddenly Peter said in excitement: "Watch! Somebody is signalling That's Morse."
"We've found them!” Penny shouted. But Peter had put her hands over her eyes.
"What's wrong?"
Peter said slowly, “I'm scared. I've been here before. I remember now There ought to be a fire! Look behind you!”
Penny turned, and felt her scalp tingle with fear as she saw a belt of red and orange flames sweeping down towards them from the top of the hill
