He was travelling on a Federal Republic of Germany passport, number D 312 3553. According to the records of the Australian Department of Immigration, Johann Friedrich Hohenberger departed Australia for Singapore on Qantas Flight 1, on 22 January 1975. What remained behind in Melbourne was John Friedrich.'
